Tessenderlo-Ham, Belgium – June 5, 2026 – Melexis today announced the MLX92344, a highly flexible PCBfree solution that enables noncontact detection of up to four positions, replacing bulky mechanical microswitches. The device introduces fully programmable current outputs and magnetic thresholds while maintaining twowire backward compatibility, driving nextgeneration automotive body electronics for applications such as seat track positioning, smooth door closure, and miniaturized multiposition frunk latches.
Traditional mechanical switches require multiple components to detect intermediate positions, increasing complexity and reliability risks. The MLX92344 features an industryfirst dual programmable architecture, allowing engineers to assign output currents directly to magnetic operating and release point thresholds with temperature compensation for softferrite or ferrite magnets. Designers can configure up to four different currents (from 3 mA to 28 mA) to emulate standard microswitch interfaces while remaining compatible with existing hardware and ECUs. The device can be read via I/O triggers or an ADC, requiring only software adjustments for adaptation.
The MLX92344 operates from 2.7 V to 28 V (withstands 32 V for truck applications) and across a temperature range of -40 °C to +150 °C. It is qualified to ASIL B SE000C and AECQ100, and is available in TSOT233L and TO923L (UA) packages. It offers robust ESD protection of 8 kV HBM and 15 kV systemlevel ESD. Parameters are configured via onchip nonvolatile memory; endofline programming eliminates mechanical tolerances for high detection accuracy. Some variants integrate IMC technology for lateral field detection, providing greater flexibility in magnet placement and mechanical design.
